Maverix Private Equity is a Toronto-based private equity firm led by an experienced and talented team with the background, network, and track record necessary to successfully execute a technology-enabled growth and disruption investment strategy. We are investing out of our inaugural fund, Maverix Growth Equity Fund I. Maverix targets North American businesses with rapidly growing revenues and evidence of a clear, profitable business model. The average position size is US$50M for meaningful minority positions in our portfolio companies.

Opportunity:
As an Associate Partner, Capital/Business Development within the Maverix Private Equity team, you will play a critical role in supporting investor relationships, supporting fundraising efforts, and providing strategic support to our portfolio companies. This role requires a deep understanding of private equity, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work closely with both investors and portfolio company executives. This role requires a blend of strategic thinking, deal execution experience, and strong relationship management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Investor Relations:
o Serve as the primary point of contact for Investors, addressing their inquiries and providing regular updates on fund performance and strategic initiatives.
o Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing Investors, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
o Organize and lead Investor and LPAC meetings, presentations, and events to enhance investor engagement and satisfaction.
o Administer and manage capital calls and distributions
o Craft and deliver clear, compelling, and transparent communication materials, including quarterly reports, newsletters, and market updates.
o Coordinate with the Finance team to develop and distribute investor communications that reflect the firm's brand and values.
o Ensure timely and accurate dissemination of information to Investors, maintaining a high level of transparency and trust.
Fundraising:
o Support the fundraising efforts for new funds, including identifying potential investors, preparing fundraising materials, and conducting roadshows.
o Support the selection and management of any third-party fundraising agents
o Develop and execute a strategic fundraising plan to attract new Investors and expand the firm's investor base.
o Support the entire fundraising process, from initial contact to closing, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
o Represent the firm at key industry investor conferences
o As part of the team, develop co-investment opportunities for Investors, providing them with additional investment options alongside the fund.
o Support the co-investment process with Investors, including structuring, negotiation, and execution of co-investment deals.
o Communicate co-investment opportunities to Investors, ensuring they are informed and engaged throughout the process.
o Coordinate with internal teams to ensure seamless integration of co-investment activities with overall fund operations.
Ecosystem development:
o Manage the process to ensure relationships exist across the broader Maverix ecosystem including with private equity, venture capital, service providers, corporations, government and academia
o Support our investment team with deal sourcing opportunities with both direct and indirect channels to market
o Support our investment team in assisting with value creation opportunities particularly from a corporate development perspective.
Team Leadership and Development:
o Mentor and develop junior professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration and continual learning.
o Contribute to the firm's thought leadership by providing insights and analysis on capital raising, fundraising, and market dynamics.
o Represent the firm at industry conferences, panels, and other public forums, sharing expertise and enhancing the firm's reputation.
o Develop and publish articles, white papers, and other content to demonstrate the firm's leadership in the private equity space.
Qualifications:
o Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant work experience (e.g., private equity, venture capital or investment banking)
o Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex situations and make sound decisions.
o Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
o Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with Investors, portfolio company executives, and industry contacts.
o Positive attitude, entrepreneurial mindset and willing to “roll-up” the sleeves
